The makerspace movement has been gaining momentum across the globe as it takes “creating” out of individual homes and workshops and moves it to social, networked, community spaces. Making fosters experimentation, invention, creation, and exploration through design thinking and project-based learning.
At this free, family-friendly maker meetup, we welcome all ages to be a student and have fun creating in a safe, supportive environment. Most students age 9 and above will be able to work independently while younger students will require adult assistance.
What is a strawket?
A strawket is a rocket made from a drinking straw and other household or office materials and launched with a rubber band. Students will enjoy making their own strawkets and competing against one another for the highest or longest flight. Add hula hoops for an outdoor game of yard darts or interactive, computerized targets to take it up a notch.
NOTE: Please register students separately (including adults who want to join in) so we have an accurate accounting of how many supplies will be required.
